Recipe for Poetry - About
My Story

If poetry is simply making art out of everyday life, then food is one of our favorite art pieces.

Food goes hand in hand with relationship. I learned this years ago when I started bringing baked goods to work. I worked at a manufacturing plant and during my free time I was teaching myself to bake. At work, everyone was working hard and burning calories, so tensions would build and personalities would clash... but no one minded being offered a delicious treat!

What started as a spontaneous morale booster for my coworkers turned into a weekly habit that bridged the gap between departments. I brought boxes of brownies and platters of cookies. I dropped off dozens of treats for holidays or made individual servings for birthdays... and everything in between.

Eventually I moved on to a new position and life got busy, but that experience has stayed with me. I loved connecting with people over a simple gesture, and it gave me the opportunity to test new ideas.

Now I have a new opportunity to make delicious treats for you while supporting my family!

Fun fact: I made this website from scratch, much like my cottage food recipes!

Cottage Foods

Recipe for Poetry is a cottage food business, meaning the products are legally made at home, so all products are made in small batches locally! In the state of Idaho, homemade products are not subject to food code regulation as long as they qualify as "non-Time/Temperature Control for Safety" foods - typical examples being baked goods, candies, dry mixes, etc., that don't require refrigeration.

Being unregulated means that I can spend less time on paperwork and more time on excellence. It means I'm directly accountable to you, the consumer. I am committed to making products with quality, simple ingredients that are easy to understand. I offer a broad selection of products because everyone deserves a treat.
